DONATIONS IN MEMORY OF Gladys Irene Thomas
December 11, 1914 – July 22, 2010
It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that the family of Gladys Thomas (nee Mjolsness) announce that she passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the age of 95 years.
Gladys was born in Didsbury, Alberta and raised on the family farm at McDougall Flats, where she attended school. Gladys lived in the Sundre area for more than fifty years until her husband Alf’s new career as a lay minister in the United Church resulted in their moving to Hines Creek, Alberta in 1966. After Alf’s sudden passing in 1967, Gladys moved to Calgary to be near her family, where she remained, except for two years when she was in Vienna, Austria.
Although wheelchair-bound in recent years, she remained cheerful and friendly to all, traits characteristic of her throughout her life. A woman of abiding faith and unfailing optimism, nothing meant more to Gladys than her family and friends. Her love, caring, and happiness continue to be an inspiration to all. Her family has requested that if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Foundation For Prader-Willi Research Canada in support of Gladys’s great-grandaughter, Greta Thomas-Sprake.
