At the age of 69. Larry was a strong advocate for his granddaughter Clare Kelly. Clare was
diagnosed with PWS back in June 2007. Despite Larry’s declining health over the past few years,
he always took the time to promote PWS awareness throughout the community of Guelph. Larry retired at the age of 55 after spending 30 years as a teacher, Vice Principal and Principal serving
The Wellington County Separate School Board. During retirement, Larry took an even more active role
In the community as a member of the Rotary Club of Guelph, Guelph Museum Board, Guelph Sports
Hall of Fame and the St Joseph’s Hospital Board. In 2008, Larry received a mayorship award recognizing him for all his community involvement.
Larry touched many hearts not only in Guelph but throughout his many travels. It was an honour to see close to 1000 people come through the funeral home to offer their condolences. The Kelly Family listed The FPWR Canada as the primary charity for those wishing to make a donation in his honour. Almost $10,000 was raised. The Kelly family is thankful to all of those that honoured Larry’s memory by donating to the Foundation For Prader-Willi Research Canada.
